Thank you for being here.
My name is Indira Sanchez and I am the owner and creator of Yiyagami.
I am a chemist by profession and paper florist by passion. I am also a wife and mom to a beautiful baby girl and a cat.
I was born in Venezuela and raised by a beautiful and tight-knit family. In my childhood and part of my adolescence, I spent a lot of time with my paternal grandmother. She has been one of the biggest influences I have had in my life. She showed me how to explore my creativity and to put love and passion in what I do. I was 11 years old when I had my first encounter with the art of paper. My grandmother's sweet Japanese friend showed me the art of Origami and from that moment, I fell in love with paper crafting and all the infinite possibilities you can create with it.
However, this artistic part of my life had a long pause while I was studying and working as a Chemist. It wasn’t until 2016 that I moved to the USA and I got married, that I had the chance to reunite with this hobby.
Since then, I have been experimenting and learning with paper, especially with crepe paper flowers. I live amazed by the beauty of nature so I study bloom's complexity, shapes and colors, and then apply different artistic techniques that I have been learning these past years.

What does Yiyagami mean?
Yiyagami is a fusion between the word “yiya” and “gami”. I have been called “Yiya” by my family since my childhood. Gami comes from the word Origami, the paper art I started to discover many years ago.
My husband had this marvelous idea to put together my childhood nickname with the thing I do love most: make things with paper.
